Architectural Reconstruction

f you open the Reconstruction Module, you have to make a new project and import the Icarus Sequence you have saved from your callibration file. After importing, you are ready to build some primitives which you can export in your 3d environment.

As you can see, the primitive boxes match exatly the buildings from the background image. If you move a box to the right or to the left, you will see fitting the boxes to your camera angle. However, very often people tell that this is not working. The main reason for failing is a wrong callibration. And all starts with the distortion and the right choose of the CCD Chip.

If anythig of these very important parameters are wrong, Icarus will fail, because the datas for the calculation are wrong.

If you switch to the Viewpoint you can see your primitives very clear. If you want to use the textures, be sure that you go under the Menu-->Textures, and pull all with smear fill.

If everything is done, you can now export your models and use all together in your 3d software. For 3dsmax you can export again a .ms file. For some reasons I couldn´t figure out it´s not possible to export the textures for 3dsmax. But you can choose a .lwo file and maybe you will find a plugin which allows you to import the .lwo files including all the textures.

Now you are ready to run your script in max and build your 3d world with the correct perspective view of your callibrated camera.
